Matthew Craig Ellam - 1976-2009
Today is the anniversary of the Death of my young Brother Matthew, taken by Leukaemia on Dec 3rd 2009, aged 33 years.
In memory of matthew I donate £25 annually to the Douglas MacMillan Hospice Light up a Life appeal where a Christmas Tree Light is placed for him in the Stoke Minster, Stoke-on-Trent. Matthew spent some of his twilight days being cared by the Hospice who make life as comfortable as possible for those with terminal illnesses..
Ironically the Stem Cell Transplant I gave to Matthew and which gave him 4 extra years of life was also one of the causes of his death in the form of Graft Versus Host Disease, but those extra years gave him time for him to know his son and his son to remember his dad.
The other cause of death was from an accidental Morphine overdose that eased the agonising pain inflicted on Matthew by Leukaemia..
RIP Matthew and all those victims of similar illnesses.
