Hulme Hall - Sometimes you find a piece of History you never expected..

Yesterday, the family took a trip to Port Sunlight in the Wirral, Merseyside. We'd passed through once on our way back home from Liverpool in 2010 and thought we'll will have to come back for a proper look some time.

Port Sunlight is famous for being an industrial village and the finest and most complete example of early urban planning, with sets of different styled houses, designed by different architects. It was developed by the founder of Lever (William Hesketh Lever).   Following a merger of Lever Brothers, with a dutch company called Margarine Unie  in 1929 the company became Unilever, now one of the worlds largest companies, and also the largest company in the UK in terms of it's market value.

Amongst the many community buildings in the Port Sunlight village is Hulme Hall. As it says on their website, Hulme Hall is "The home of Wirral's largest conference, banqueting and wedding centre. A grade II listed building, with versatile suites and creative cuisine. All single floor functions rooms, fully licensed for Civil Ceremonies. The management & staff are committed to fully matching your expectations and individual requirements offering the complete hospitality".

The Hall is particularly famous as The Beatles played at Hulme Hall back in the 1960s. It will be remembered for Ringo Star's first gig with the band as part of their Wirral tour and rise to fame. It is also the site of the Beatles first Broadcast Interview in 1962.
